Joe Elvis
Nothing can be more exciting than having Joe Elvis back on the radio. A Nashville broadcast institution, for 25 years he dominated afternoon drive time, starting at 103 KDF, and eventually helming afternoons at 105.9 The Rock.
And now Hippie Radio is thrilled to have Joe Elvis back where he belongs: behind the mic, spinning platters and regaling listeners and callers with his quick trademark wit and an obvious joy in what he’s doing.
As a man with a constant desire to broaden his horizons, Joe left The Rock and pursued a dizzying array of career paths. He got his certification in meteorology and became the weatherman on RFD TV.
A man of faith, he then took a position as Director of Ministry Engagement at St. George’s Episcopal Church. (where he still serves as a Eucharist minister). And then… if that weren’t enough, he trained to fly jets, first small ones, then big ones. He retired from flying in October 2024 with his plans to lean back and enjoy life - until a chance meeting with Tony Richards, owner of Kensington Digital Media, brought him into the fold at Hippie Radio 94.5 WHPY.
Joe has been married for 28 years to his darling wife Kim and the father of two grown sons. One last thing: for forty years he has been the drummer for the legendary post-punk rock & roll band Government Cheese, who still make records and play sold-out shows for the “Cheeseheads” many of whom will travel many miles to see them.
Hippie Radio is proud and honored to have Joe Elvis back on the airwaves. Catch him from 3pm-7pm weekdays, only on Hippie Radio 94.5.
